First up was a road trip to Florida to attend our nephew's wedding. I still can't believe it when I say that. I'm the youngest to marry into the O'Dowd side and I'm not even old enough to be his mother but now I feel old :)
Anyway we made stops in Oklahoma City (so we could eat dinner at Toby Keith's I Love this Bar and Grill).
Dallas (to visit my sister and the cousins),
Destin, FL (because we had to sit on the white sandy beaches) and then on to Jacksonville for the wedding.
We also spent a few awesome but oh so very hot and humid days at Disney World before heading home. Boy do we miss living in L.A. and being able to go to Disney for the day anytime we wanted.
I LOVED Kelsey's expressions when we got to see the Disney Jr. live show. She was thrilled!
On the way home we drove through Atlanta to see the Coca-Cola factory. It was pretty cool. The kids especially liked the tasting room where they could get a sip of different flavors distributed all over the world.
Our last tourist stop was St. Louis so we could go up in the Gateway Arch. It's so much bigger than I imagined. And the tiny little car you ride to the top was a little scary.
After 14 days we were home and glad to be out of the car. Next up was a quick visit with our niece as she came through on her way to work at summer camp. We drove up Pikes Peak. Our kids had never been to the top so it was fun but we will have to go back when we have more time and actually get out along the way for some hiking.
Then we decided to do a last minute camping trip which ended up being a disaster because it poured rain and hailed and the lighting was so close all the kids are now turned off to camping. Our 2 nights turned in to only 1.
The next morning was clear enough for a quick paddle boat ride before the clouds rolled in again.
A couple weeks later we headed to Albuquerque to visit Devin's parents. It was hot but we had fun picking Grandma's peaches from the tree in the yard, touring Santa Fe, hiking and of course a day at the indoor trampoline place.
We had a few other things thrown in like a ballet camp for Bailey and a visit to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. It was a busy but fun summer. It went so fast! Can't wait to start planning for next summer!
