March 2014

March has been a pretty busy month for us.
We celebrated Austin and Teagan's birthdays. Hard to believe they are 10 and 8 now. They will be finishing up 4th and 2nd grade this spring. I keep thinking it's only 8 more years until my oldest is off to college! (Assuming we all survive the teenage years haha!) Time just goes too fast.

Austin is still obsessed with Legos. He is super focused when it comes to putting a set together and takes him no time at all it seems to finish one. He loves riding his bike and playing video games. He's currently playing basketball and enjoying it although team sports really aren't his thing it seems. He'll try something for the sake of trying something new but hasn't found a favorite activity yet. Next time it's soccer, or maybe swimming again (I think).

Teagan is getting more and more into Legos. He loves video games and riding his bike and recently discovered roller blades. While a tricky thing to learn he seems determined. He is also playing soccer and enjoying it. He's still my quick learner. He's fast at picking up anything new, memorizing songs, languages, jokes. He's our resident comic relief too.

I mentioned in my last post that Bailey turned 5. She's our drama queen and diva. Literally. She loves to put on shows, sing and dance. She is currently playing soccer and loves it. She just started to ride her bike without training wheels. She has been begging me to put her in ballet classes and we've signed her up for this summer. She's beyond excited.

March was also Kelsey's 18 month birthday. She's a little monkey. She is saying so many words now and finally sleeping through the night! She's my little cuddle bug and it's bittersweet to see my last little one growing up.

3 of our kiddos and Devin have started up with Taekwondo here and so far they are enjoying it. I think Bailey will not be re-enrolling as she is more interested in ballet and soccer but for now my boys (now yellow belts) will continue. It's been good discipline for them. Helping them with memorization, physical activity and learning another culture.

We also finally got our back yard fenced in. Oh how we've missed having one the last several years. Now with a dog and a toddler it's so nice to have this convenience. We found a company that did a great job.

So there's a quick update. Stay tuned. More posts to come soon!

Moving and Settling in.

I started a new post a couple months ago and this is as far as I got.

"Well, we did it. Another move. 16,000+ lbs. and we are in another state, city, house and swimming in boxes and paper. Things going through my mind while unpacking..."we have too much stuff!", "where did this come from?", "where am I going to put this?", and "what a waste of paper and cardboard!". ."

Now 4 months later everything is out of boxes and we have thoroughly settled in to our house. Although I'm still trying to organize and find places for things and I haven't yet hung all of our pictures. But it feels like home. It looks like we've been here a while what with all the kids toys and things strewn about. It's a bigger house with more to clean but room to spread out. And the best part is the awesome view of the front range including the Air Force Academy where we can look out and "see" Daddy at work and even hear retreat and the National Anthem played at the end of the day. Something I miss when not living on base.

We've had a pretty decent winter for Colorado. Not a lot of snow but not a little either. The kids have enjoyed playing in it and sledding when there is enough of it. We are all still a bit wimpy about the cold. We've been so spoiled living in L.A. Bailey even said the other day when we were out in the cold that she wished we had never left California. You and me both, kid! Oh and we thought L.A. drivers were bad. Growing up here you learn how to drive in the snow but now it seems there must be so many transplants that have no idea what they are doing and going out in the bad weather is SCARY!! Colorado should require a driving test in the snow. Haha!

In February we celebrated Bailey's 5th birthday. I can't believe she's already 5.

Then came Austin turning 10 and Teagan turning 8 only a couple of weeks later! Our camera stopped working so I can't get the pictures of the boys off it to post but I will try to get some up here soon.
